History
The history of the University of Northampton is extensive and fascinating. It was established in the town of Northampton in 1924 as Nene College, a teacher training institution. The institution rapidly grew in the years after World War II, introducing new structures and programmes in a range of subjects. Nene College of Higher Education was created in 1975 as a result of the college's merger with Northampton College of Art.
The college started concentrating on becoming a more research-oriented school in the 1990s, and in 1999 it was given the authority to confer degrees. It received official university status in 2005 and changed its name to University of Northampton.

Accommodation
There are five total stories, with apartments on the higher floors, or townhouses on the lower floors, for international students (each of which has a manicured courtyard). The University offers cheap housing alternatives in off-campus Halls of Residence, while the majority of students will prefer to live on campus.
All of the housing for students in Northampton is fully furnished and all utilities are included; the tenant is only responsible for the TV licence. The university's network is wired and wirelessly accessible in every guest room.
