History
The University of Manchester was founded in 2004 by the merger of the Victoria University of Manchester and the University Of Manchester Institute Of Science and Technology (UMIST). The red brick university was famous among the nine civic universities in the nineteenth century. (after the civic university movement).
The main campus of the University of Manchester is located on Oxford Road in Manchester, England, just south of the city centre. The University is separated into three faculties and then into schools that teach undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. It is the third largest and only single-site university in the United Kingdom.
The University is well-known for its financial endowments, and it has the fifth-largest endowment of any university in the UK, after the prestigious universities of Cambridge and Oxford. Manchester Museum, John Rylands Library, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Jodrell Bank Observatory, and Whitworth Art Gallery are all run by the University.

Student Life
The University of Manchester is a member of the largest student union in the country. The Union is a student voice that takes every necessary action to ensure the well-being of students. It's busy enough, from the University's welcome week to Alumni Night. As a result, the institute provides award-winning services and maximises the university experience. Students from many cultures, languages, faiths, and ethnic groups organise community gatherings and develop international acquaintances. The University of Manchester Students' Union that exists today is a merger of the University of Manchester Union and the UMIST Students' Association.
As a result, an executive team of eight individuals is dedicated to working towards the institution's improvement. Sports and well-being facilities are available to students. On campus, there are Armitage Sports Centre, Manchester Aquatics Centre, Sugden Sports Centre, and Wellbeing Rooms.

Accommodation

The George Kenyon Hall is another popular structure that offers self-contained flats, shared kitchens in each flat, modern en suite facilities, audiovisual common spaces, or a launderette, among other amenities. Throughout the year, the events are organised by an active Residents Association. The kitchen/lounge is fully equipped with a microwave, toaster, oven, freezer, and other amenities.
The Horniman House, located on the corner of Oxford Road, is close to great public transportation, stores, and restaurants. Weston Hall is a self-catering residence run by a residential life team. Whitworth Park is close to the sports center, libraries, and the Students Union. There is a bar in residence, a computer cluster, sports facilities, on-site security, key card controlled access, and a laundry facility. The Wright Robinson Hall offers single study bedrooms, twin occupancy rooms, telephone and Ethernet connections, wardrobe space, a washbasin, and other amenities.
Transport
Manchester's public transportation system is advanced enough to allow for easy movement from one location to another. Students can get around via bicycle, bus, taxi, train, or tram. Cycling is the cheapest way to get about the Manchester student neighbourhoods. Students continue to choose to ride on Manchester's Magic buses, where tickets are significantly less expensive.
Staff and students at the University of Manchester are given complimentary tickets to travel along Sackville Street and Oxford Road. Piccadilly Station has taxis available for roughly £5. Piccadilly and Victoria are the two major train stations, with a nearly free bus route between them. Manchester's Metrolink is a frequent tram service.
